Taaqatwar was his first movie. It is an action movie with Sanjay Dutt in the lead role. He received commercial success with the movie Aankhen in 1993, in which the comedy king Govinda starred. His recent movie was Partner in 2007.

Ankhen was about two guys who are irregular to college and always lie about college and their education.Govinda played a dual role in this movie, along with Chunky Pandey. This movie was a sensational hit in Bollywood. Remakes of this movie in other languages also achieved success.

Mr. and Mrs.Khiladi saw Akshay Kumar turning towards comic roles. This film was set in beautiful locations in Canada. JuhiChawla was paired opposite Akshay. The plot was of a lazy man and his love story.

Mujhse Shaadi karogi
is another good and successful movie from Dhawan. The story revolves around a hot tempered guy who fails in love. Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra were paired opposite each other and Akshay played a lead role in the movie. It was another comedy flick.

Hum Kisise Kum Nahi
was a multi-starer comedy. The director managed to show all the big heroes in comedy roles. This movie was about a don Munnabhai (Sanjay Dutt) who is suffering with love virus. He meets a doctor (Amithabh Bachchan). The remaining part of the movie was how the doctor solves his problem.

These are just a few examples of his talent. In a career spanning 20 years, he completed 45 movies. After the super hit movie Partner he took a short gap from making movies. Three of his movies are under production. His attempts to remake Hollywood and South Indian films didn’t meet with much success.
